Bangladesh Bank conducted an awareness activation programme on support safety retrofits and environmental upgrades programme (SREUP) in ready-made garment (RMG) industry.
Top executives from commercial banks, development partners and government agencies took part in a conference on the matter at InterContinental Dhaka recently, said a press release on Thursday.
In his speech, the deputy governor expressed hope that the SREUP will create an impact on sustainable growth of the ready-made garment industry through offering credit with attractive interest rates and incentive packages.
European Union (EU) Head of Cooperation Maurizio Cian, AFD Country Director Benoit Chassatte, Finance Division Joint Secretary Kamrul Haque Maruf and project director Moni Shankar Kundu were also present on the occasion.
The project funds the RMG industries to improve utilities for factories alongside green and sustainable infrastructure for improved lifestyle of the workers.
Cheques were handed over to two RMG factories which completed the programme under the SREUP projects.
