Both Bangladesh and India confirmed their places in the final of the SAFF U-20 Championship after earning crucial points from their respective last league stage matches at Kalinga Stadium in Bhubaneswar on Tuesday.

Bangladesh finished the league stage on top after they played a 1-1 draw against Nepal while India beat Maldives 1-0 in their last match and joined Bangladesh in the final.

In the day’s first match, Pias Ahmed Nova scored for Bangladesh in the 63rd minute while Niranjan Malla leveled margin for Nepal in the 68th minute.

In the day’s second match, Gurkirat Singh scored the match winner in the 89th minute.

The winners will lock horns in final which scheduled to be held at the same venue on August 5.

Bangladesh, which earlier won their previous three matches, needed just one point against Nepal to confirm their final berth and they did it very smartly against the neighbouring side.

Bangladesh finished with the highest 10 points after the league stage while India ended in second place with nine points.

Nepal finished third in the five-team points table with seven points.
