Bangladesh U-16 clinch massive win in Guwahati

Bangladesh Under-16 team began their tour of Assam on a winning note after they clinched a massive 10-wicket win over the hosts during the opening three-day game at Amingaon Cricket Stadium in Guwahati on Friday.

Needing only one run to win, Jawad Abrar scored a boundary in the second ball of their second innings to help the visitors reach home with ease with five sessions’ play still to be played.

Assam Under-16 team, which earlier opted to bat first on Thursday, were dismissed for only 77 runs in their first innings.

Bangladesh’s Al Fahad claimed 4-17 while Saik Imtiaz and Sanjit Mojumder took three wickets each.

Bangladesh secured an 80-run lead after making 157 runs in their first innings with Hasanuzzaman scoring the highest 62 runs.

Later, Assam were bowled out for only 80 in their second innings, leaving Bangladesh just one run to win the game.

Bangladesh’s Samiun Bashir Ratul caused havoc with four wickets.

The second and final three-day match will be held on August 3-5 at the same venue while three one-day matches will be held on August 8, 11 and 13 respectively.
