British High Commissioner visits Varendra Research Museum

RAJSHAHI: A delegation of six members led by British High Commissioner to Bangladesh Robert Chatterton Dickson visited the Varendra Research Museum, maintained by Rajshahi University (RU) in Rajshahi on Thursday.

The British team visited noted scripts, Buddhist and Hindu stone sculptures, modern wood sculptures, Bengali stone inscriptions and sculptured stones of the Muslim period and the indigenous as well as tribal culture of Rajshahi region.

During the visit, Robert Chatterton Dickson thanked RU Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Golam Sabbir Sattar and assured to extend his cooperation to work closely with the university in preserving the museum’s unused inscriptions and beads by mutual interests. Among others Pro Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Sultan-ul-Islam, Public Relations Office Administrator Prof Dr Pradeep Kumar Pandey, Director of British Council Bangladesh Tom Mississia and British Council Head of Arts Nahid Idris were present on the occasion.
