One more die, 60 hospitalised

One dengue patient died and 60 were admitted to different hospitals in the country in the last 24 hours till Monday morning, according to the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).

With this, 1,117 dengue patients were hospitalised in 25 days of this month across the country while seven deaths were reported  in the meantime.

Some 737 dengue patients were admitted in June, 163 in May, 23 in April, 20 in March while 20 in February and 126 patients were hospitalised in January, the DHGS said.

Of the total, 40 dengue patients were reported from Dhaka and 20 from outside.

The DGHS data further said a total of 276 dengue patients are now undergoing treatment across the country. Of them, 212 patients are in the hospitals of Dhaka city.

A total of 2,206 dengue patients were hospitalised in the country while over 90 percent of the patients were reported in the capital, the DGHS data added. According to World Health Organisation (WHO), there is no specific treatment of the dengue in the world.

The health experts suggested the city dwellers to destroy all the Aedes breeding grounds in the houses in urban areas immediately to prevent the deadly dengue disease.
