4 more die, 446 cases detected

Covid-19 claimed four new lives in the last 24 hours till 8:00am on Saturday, according to Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).

With the latest figures, the Covid-19 fatalities rose to 29,262. The Covid-19 death rate at the moment is 1.46 percent.

 At least 446 more Covid -19 cases were recorded during the period, said the DGHS.

With the new infections, the total number of cases rose to 20,01345, the DGHS added.

Some 620 infection cases were reported on Friday, 884 on Thursday, 1104 cases on Wednesday, 879 were on Tuesday, 1072 on Monday while 900 cases were reported on Sunday.

The daily infection rate has been reported 10.10 percent on Saturday. It was 8.36 percent on Friday, 9.81 percent on Thursday, 12.20 percent on Wednesday while 9.66 percent on Tuesday and 9.77 percent on Monday.

Meanwhile, 1,434 corona patients were recovered in the meantime, raising the total number of recovery to 19,34,693. The recovery rate has stood at 96.67 percent. Some 4,415 samples were tested during the period.

The country’s first coronavirus infection case was reported on March 8 in 2020 and first death from the disease was reported on March 18 the same year.

The first zero Covid death was reported on November 20 last year since the pandemic broke out here in March 2020.

The country registered its highest daily caseload of 16,230 on July 28 last year and daily fatalities of 264 on August 10 in the same year.
