Detective Branch (DB) of police rescued an abducted businessman from a hospital in the capital’s Uttara area on Wednesday.

A team of DB Uttara Division rescued Abdul Khaleque, a businessman of Gazipur from the ground floor of Lubana Hospital at 3:05am. The cops also arrested three alleged abductors -- Mohiuddin Ahmed alias Abir, Barkat Jamaddar and Saiful Islam -- from the spot.

Badruzzaman Zillu, additional deputy commissioner of the DB division, said Abdul Khaleque came to the capital from Gazipur for a business purpose on July 17.

Miscreants abducted him when he reached Bangladesh Medical in Uttara, he said.

Later, criminals demanded Tk 50,000 from his family, he said, adding that the family paid the amount.

After getting the money, they did not release the victim and rather demanded Tk 50,000 more.

Then, the wife of the businessman lodged an abduction case with Uttara West Police Station.

On receiving information, police conducted a drive on the ground floor of Lubana Hospital and found the victim with his hands and legs tied.
