32 hospitalised in 24 hours

The number of dengue patients has been increasing day by day in the country as 32 more dengue patients were admitted to different hospitals in Dhaka in the last 24 hours till Wednesday morning.

However, no death was reported in the meantime.

According to Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS), 227 dengue patients were hospitalised in six days in the country. Some 22 patients were reported on Friday, 49 on Saturday and 42 on Sunday, 32 on Monday while 46 on Tuesday, the DGHS said.

With the new patients, the total number of dengue patients this year rose to 1,316.

Of them, 149 are still undergoing treatment across the country. Of them, 136 patients are in the hospitals of Dhaka city, the DGHS added.

Health experts warned the city corporations of a major outbreak of dengue this year.  They also suggested the city corporations to take extensive measures immediately to control the Aedes mosquitoes in a bid to prevent the dengue disease.
