5 held for ‘selling’ train tickets on black market

Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) arrested five men from the capital’s Kamalapur Railway Station on Monday for their alleged involvement in selling train tickets on black market ahead of Eid-ul-Azha.

The detainees were identified as Md Liton Mia, 37, Md Shah Lam, 34, Md Imran, 20, Md Abu Taher, 26, and Md Zahidur Rahman Shakib, 40, RAB-3 said in a media release on Tuesday. Four train tickets and Tk 6,927 were seized from the arrestees, said RAB-3.

During interrogation, the accused admitted to the crime.

Acting on a tip-off, RAB came to know that a group was selling train tickets at inflated prices taking advantage of the Eid rush.  A RAB-3 team rushed to the spot and arrested them at 8:45pm.
