Classical music fest held at Islampur

A classical music festival titled ‘Shruti Jayanti’ was held at Islampur in Jamalpur district for the first time on Saturday night.

Batighar, a library run voluntarily organised the programme, marking inauguration its newly built abode at Islampur.

The classical music programme was started with the song of ‘Anandya loke’ of poet Rabindranath Tagore in chorus, while Batighar members Raisul Mohsin, Bhuban Roy and Pranesh Basak, Ilham Fuljhuri Khan and Isra Fuljhuri Khan, and their father Mohammad Ilias Khan, among others, performed at the programme.

Islampur Upazila Nirbahi Officer Mohammad Tanvir Hasan Ruman, poet Amullya Ratan Pal and former assistant head teacher of Government Islampur Nekjahan Pilots Model High School Shamsul Huda Khan Chishty, among others, addressed the function.

Addressing the occasion, speakers demanded for Shilpakala Academy in Islampur to pave the way of cultural practice.
