CHATTOGRAM: Police arrested a councillor’s son in connection with mysterious death of his wife in the port city on Saturday night.

 The arrestee was identified as Nawshadul Amin, son of Saraipara Ward Councillor and Awami League leader Nurul Amin Kalu.

Officer in-Charge (OC) Mostafizur Rahman of Pahartali police station said the deceased’s father Tareq Imtiaz filed a case accusing Nawshad and his mother in this connection.

 Nawshad was arrested in this connection and will be put in remand, he said.

Earlier, police recovered the body from the residence  of the concillor in the city’s Saraipara area.

Banker Nawshad married Rehnuma Ferdous Mitul four years ago and they have a three-year-old girl.

 Police picked Nawshad for quizzing in this connection and arrested him after Rehnuma’s father filed the case on Saturday night.

 Rehnuma’s father Tarek Imtiaz, younger brother of late ward councilor Tarek Solaiman Selim of Alkaran ward, alleged that members of her in-law’s house used to torture her mentally for different issues.

 She stayed at his father’s house for three months before the Eid-Ul-Fitr. Later, she was sent to the in-law’s house with the help of former City Mayor and Awami League Chattogram City unit General Secretary AJM Nasir Uddin, added Imtiaz.
