RAJSHAHI: Speakers at a programme on Saturday said united efforts of all government, non-government and voluntary organisations are essential for the protection of children from all sorts of violence and repression, reports BSS.
Utmost emphasis should be given on ensuring fundamental rights to the children for their physical and mental development as the today’s children are the future of the country.
Association for Community Development (ACD), a rights-based organization, hosted the dialogue supported by Family for Every Child held at Hotel Warisan in the city.
Editor of Daily Sonar Desh Akbarul Hassan Millat, Ward Councilors of Rajshahi City Corporation (RCC) Muhammad Kamruzzaman and Nuruzzaman Tuku and journalist Kazi Shahed addressed the meeting as panel discussants with ACD Executive Director Salima Sarwar in the chair.
RCC Ward Councilors Umme Salma and Ayesha Khatun, ACD Director Sharmin Subrina, school teacher Mainul Islam and journalists Moudud Rana, Mamun-Ur-Rashid and Sharif Sumon also spoke.
ACD Project Coordinator Subrata Kumar Paul presented a concept paper on the issue putting forward a set of recommendations on how to flourish latent talents of the children through ensuring congenial atmosphere.
Akbarul Hassan Millat said responsive support from the community, especially local teacher, public representatives, parents and influential leaders has become indispensable to reduce the violence against children and child marriage.
All the government and non-government organizations concerned should come forward and work together with a positive mind-set for the well-being of the children, he added.
