‘Govt takes healthcare to people’s doorsteps’

Former Deputy Finance Secretary of central Awami Jubo League Helal Akbar Chowdhury Babar said Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has been able to take the healthcare services to the doorsteps of the country’s people.

The government has established hospitals and healthcare service centres at every village, ward and maholla, which is indeed a milestone in the country’s history, he said. 

Babar, also the chief inventor of corona prevention booth in Bangladesh, made the remarks as the chief guest at a ceremony organised to launch a free treatment service at Nazma Sattar Clinic at Enayet Bazar in Chattogram city on Thursday. Dr Faisal Chowdhury, owner of the clinic, presided over the ceremony.

The former Jubo League leader also said if the well-to-do persons of the society come forward, the country’s healthcare service will be enriched further, immensely benefiting the ordinary people and none in the society will remain deprived of the essential service.

The unique service was launched on the initiative of Shahed Azgar-Rashed Azgar family of Enayet Bazar.

Chattogram City Corporation Councillor (Ward No-22) Salimullah Bachchu and Councillor from reserved seat for women Nilu Nag, also the general secretary of Chattogram Mohila Awami League, also spoke on the occasion. 

Dr Nowshad Ahmed, dietician Dr Reshmi Islam, Awami League leader Nezam Ullah, Absar Khan, City Swechchhasebak League leader Md Siraj, Jubo League leader Shibu Prashad Chowdhury, Touhidul Islam Mitu, Mahbubul Alam, Abdul Mannan, Abdus Shukkur, Mahmudul Haque Chunnu, Chattogram College Chhatra League General Secretary Zahid Hasan Saimun and Enayet Bazar Ward Chhatra League leader Niaz Uddin Tamim, among others, were present.

Two physicians and a nutritionist will provide free treatment at clinic for three days every week from 4:00pm to 8:00pm.
