The round 18 of the ongoing Bangladesh Premier League will begin today with current champions Bashundhara Kings will take on Mohammedan Sporting Club Ltd at the Shaheed Dhirendranath Stadium in Cumilla.
Kings, who earlier clinched BPL titles twice in the seasons of 2018-19 and 2021, will be eyeing to extend their point difference against second-placed Dhaka Abahani Ltd in the ongoing title race if they are able to beat Mohammedan at their home.
Meanwhile, Mohammedan, under their new head coach Shafiqul Islam Manik, will try to ruin Kings’ six-match winning streak at their den.
The traditional black and white were boosted with full of confidence after beating tough outfit Sheikh Jamal Dhanmondi Club Ltd in their last match at the same venue last week.
Meanwhile, Kings earlier beat Mohammedan by 2-0 goals in their first-leg match at the Bashundhara Kings Arena of Bashundhara Sports Complex in March.
“Players are fit, ready and excited for their first match of this season in Cumilla,” the club’s head of strategy and planning Bayazid Alam Zubair Nipu told The Daily Sun before leaving Dhaka on Friday.
