The Embassy of Japan in Dhaka has celebrated the 50th anniversary of its opening in a befitting manner.
Japan recognised Bangladesh as a sovereign and independent state on February 10, 1972, soon after its independence. After that, Japan opened its embassy in Dhaka on July 1, 1972.
Foreign Secretary Masud Bin Momen and a number of dignitaries along with youths attended the event.
Ambassador Naoki also presented certificates of ambassador’s commendation to NGO Ekmatra, Japanese music group Bajina Beat, and Tanaka Chizuru, owner of Japanese restaurant ‘Nagasaki’ at Uttara in Dhaka.
The commendations of ambassador are awarded to individuals and groups to acknowledge their contributions to the promotion of friendship and mutual understanding with Japan.
ITO Naoki expressed his sincere appreciation to those rewarded for their great contribution to enriching the great friendship and expressed his hope for the future development of partnership between the two countries.
