BNP blames govt for fresh corona surge

BNP Standing Committee Member Khandaker Mosharraf Hossain said the number of Covid-19 cases has surged across the country due to the government’s negligence in taking proper preventive measures.

“The country is now facing the fourth wave of the virus. This is happening due to the government’s negligence,” he said.

The BNP leader made the statement while speaking at a ‘milad mahfil’ on Friday. Dhaka south city unit of the BNP arranged the programme at the party’s central office in the capital’s Nayapaltan, seeking speedy recovery of the party’s ailing Chairperson Khaleda Zia and Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir.

He said though many countries earlier saw fresh surge in the virus cases, the government didn’t pay any heed to it and didn’t take any preventive measures.

Mosharraf said the people of the country are suffering due to the government’s failure.

He urged people from all walks of life to get united to ensure the fall of the current Awami League government and establish a pro-people government through acceptable polls under a non-party government.
