Dr Mominul passes away

Dr Mominul Haque Chowdhury, prominent pediatric physician of Chattogram and one of the founders of Chattogram Ma-O-Shishu Hospital, has passed away. He was 96.

He breathed his last at 1:00am on Thursday while undergoing treatment at Evercare Hospital in Dhaka, said a press release.

Mominul is survived by his two sons and three daughters, and a host of relatives, friends and well-wishers.

He was buried at his family graveyard at Haldia Yasin Nagar in Raozan upazila following his namaz-e-janaza at Jamyatul Falah Mosque at 10:00am.

His eldest son Muhammad Nasir Chowdhury is an engineer and the youngest son Muhammad Munir Chowdhury is Director General of National Museum of Science and Technology.

Captain Mominul had served different cantonments in the then two province of Pakistan as an efficient physician of medical corps of the then Pakistan Army.

He was the first Bengali medical officer of Faujdarhat Cadet College. After receiving higher education in London, he served as registrar and resident medical officer for nine years.

Dr Mominul had a reputation as an honest and compassionate doctor.
