One held with 10 gold bars in Magura

The Department of Narcotics Control has arrested a person with 10 gold bars weighing 100 bhories in Magura.

Hailing from Sharsha Upazila of Jashore, Sakib Hossain was arrested at Parnanduali bus terminal in Magura Wednesday afternoon. He is the son of Iajul Islam of Putkhali village in the upazila.

Kabir Ahmed, Inspector of the Department of Narcotics Control in Magura, said they received secret information that a consignment of yaba was being carried by a bus from Chattogram to Jashore via Magura.

 "We intercepted the bus at Magura bus terminal and searched for suspected passengers. At one stage, 10 gold bars were recovered from the shoes of Sakib Hossain," he said.

He said Sakib admitted to having possessed the smuggled gold bars which were being carried to Jashore.  

Nasir Uddin, Officer-in-Charge of Magura Sadar Police Station, said, "I have heard about the incident. Legal action will be taken against the arrestee."
