Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) Council at the Supreme Court on Wednesday said Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University (BSMMU) prison cell has become a resort for the VIP inmates, reports BSS.
"They (VIPs) become sick as soon as they land in jail. They come to BSMMU prison cell for the treatment. Now the situation is like that the prison cell has become a resort for them. We have to stop this practice," said Khurshid Alam Khan, a senior advocate of ACC.
Lt Gen (retd) Harun-Ar-Rashid, who was convicted and sentenced to four-year jail and fined Tk 1.50 crore in the case on May 12, filed the plea on June 28. The High Court after holding hearing on the matter, allowed the plea on Wednesday.
