Motorcycles banned on Padma Bridge

The government has prohibited plying of motorcycles on Padma Bridge in the wake of a motorcycle accident that left two people injured seriously.

The Bridges Division issued an order in this regard on Sunday afternoon.

The Press Information Department (PID) of the government relayed the order to be disseminated by the print and electronic media.

In its order, Bridges Division said the ban on motorcycle plying will come into effect from 6am on June 27.

At least two people were critically injured in a motorbike accident on Padma Bridge on Sunday evening.

According to a video of social media, two persons were lying on the bridge after being injured seriously.

Officer-in-charge of Padma Bridge North Police Station Alamgir Hossain said, “I have learnt about the accident. And it is being tried to know details.”

Confirming the matter, Suman Deb, additional superintendent of police in Munshiganj, said the accident took place between the pillars of 27 and 28. One was injured in the accident, he said.
