The government is planning to supply gas from Bhola to national grid using the advantage of Padma Bridge, said State Minister for Power and Energy Nasrul Hamid.
Now, the Shahbazpur gas field, known as Bhola gas field, produces 63.5mmcfd of natural gas daily. The gas is used by public and private power plants due to the absence of a national grid connection with Bhola.
Nasrul Hamid said any organisation in energy sector would be able to go ahead with it if the company could take the project timely.
“We are facing different problems and incurring losses due to delay in taking projects,” he said.
He was addressing at the Annual Performance Agreement (APA) between the energy and mineral resources division (EMRD) and its agencies and organisations at the Secretariat in Dhaka on Sunday.
The state minister said the demand of energy had increased due to the volume of the economic growth. “So the futuristic plans will help to meet the demand of energy,” he said.
The activities of the energy sector got momentum as the APA was being implemented in exploration of wells as well as LNG and oil imports, he said.
