Int’l confce on genomics begins at NSU

A three-day International Conference on Genomics, Nanotech, and Bioengineering (ICGNB) begins at North South University (NSU) in Bashundhara Residential Area today with the objective to discuss the concerns and strategies to overcome the challenges of the twenty-first century and promote collaborations.

The conference is expected to bring together the leading scientists and scholars of the cross-disciplinary areas across the world, said a press release on Friday.

This year, more than 700 hundred researchers from 75 institutions in 15 countries will showcase their findings and share ideas.

There will be 64 podium presentations and 332 posters in the three-day event.

The plenary lecture will be delivered by Prof Rita R. Colwell from the Bloomberg School of Public Health at Johns Hopkins University and the University of Maryland at College Park, USA. She will also present a key-note paper titled “Climate, seas, and the human microbiome: the cholera paradigm.”

The conference is being sponsored by Beximco Pharmaceuticals Ltd and General Pharmaceuticals Ltd as the gold sponsors, Beacon Pharmaceutical as the silver sponsor, with ACI, Healthcare Pharmaceutical and Astra Biopharmaceutical as the associate sponsors. 

The closing ceremony will be attended by Prof Dr ABM Abdullah, personal physician to the Prime Minister, as the chief guest.
