Bangladesh T20 skipper Mahmudullah said on Friday that they are eyeing to kick start their ICC World T20 preparation with a series win over West Indies in the shortest during the upcoming assignments.
Bangladesh, who will be playing T20 cricket after a gap of five months, will begin their World Cup preparation, scheduled in Australia from October through the series against Windies.
“We are targeting a series win and we would like to play good cricket. At the moment, I feel the balance of our team is good but I think it will be a good series,” Mahmudullah told reporters at the Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport before departing for West Indies.
“Ahead of the T20 World Cup, every series and every match is very important and we would like to win the series,” he added.
The opening two T20Is will be played in Dominica on July 2 and 3 while the third will be played in Guyana on July 7.
Mahmudullah also welcomed Mehidy Hasan in the shortest format as he felt he deserves a chance. Mehidy is making a return to the T20 format since playing against West Indies in Mirpur in 2018.
“He (Mehidy) performed really well in the last BPL so I am very happy that Miraj (Mehidy) is in the squad,” he concluded.
