Members of the Rapid Action Battalion (RAB), like other law enforcers, are now on full alert, as the groundbreaking ceremony of the Padma Bridge is set to be held on June 25.

RAB Director General (DG) Chowdhury Abdullah Al Mamun said, “Special security measures have been taken by the RAB. Every member is working to avoid any kind of untoward eventualities. RAB members have been deployed in different places”

In the Service Area 1 and Service Area 2 of the Padma Bridge, RAB's intelligence activities have been stepped up.

He said there would be helicopters in the sky, special commando teams at both ends of the bridge and strict guard of the RAB at the inauguration site and surrounding areas.

He made the remarks at a press conference at Banglabazar Ghat in Shibchar on Wednesday.

“RAB control room has been opened for the mega ceremony. Our bomb disposal unit is on high alert for any situation. We also have helicopters ready. In addition to these security measures, RAB medical teams will be present at both ends of the bridge,” said the DG.

There will also be Striking Force, Motorcycle Patrol, Boat Patrol and Observation Force round the clock.  Heads and senior officers of various units of RAB were also present at the event.
