The country saw the first death from dengue in Dhaka division on Tuesday this year with the number of dengue cases rising day by day.

Beside, 27 more patients were admitted to different hospitals in the capital in the last 24 hours until 8:00 am on the day. No dengue cases, however, were reported outside the city, according to Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).

As many as 110 dengue patients, including 106 in the capital, are now receiving treatment in hospitals all over the country. The DGHS has so far recorded 808 dengue cases and 697 recoveries this year.

A total of 105 dengue patients, including 95 in Dhaka division, died in 2021.

Dengue is found in tropical and sub-tropical climates worldwide, mostly in urban and semi-urban areas.

According to the World Health Organisation (WHO), there is no specific treatment for dengue or severe dengue, but early detection and access to proper medical care lowers fatality rates below 1 percent.
