JSD won’t take part in EC dialogue

Jatiya Samajtantrik Dal (JSD) will not participate in the dialogue on the use of the Electronic Voting Machine (EVM) with the Election Commission (EC).

The EC has invited the JSD led by ASM Abdur Rob to attend the meeting scheduled to be held today.

“Participating in the views-exchange meeting is meaningless and unnecessary. That’s why, the JSD will not participate in the meeting,” said a statement of the JSD on Monday. The party believes that neither any political parties nor people made any demand for using the EVM in election.

“EVM is against people’s desire and will act as a barrier to defend voting rights. People believe that the EVM is the government’s tool to prolong its stay in power through digital rigging,” the JSD said.

The party further said the move to use the EVM in the polls is entirely ‘politically motivated’. “People won’t approve of any forced decision,” it added.
