‘Joy Bangla Utshab’ held in Barishal

A cultural event titled ‘Joy Bangla Utshab’ was held at Bangabandhu Udyan in Barishal on Thursday. Barishal Chamber of Commerce and Industry in collaboration with Barishal City Corporation organised the event to celebrate the state recognition of the slogan ‘Joy Bangla’ as the national slogan and to spread the spirit of the Liberation War among the young generation.

Under the music direction of National Film Award-winning musician Kaushik Hossain Taposh, ‘Taposh and Friends’ has performed in a dazzling lineup at the festival. 

Thousands of youth of Barishal attended the festival which was open to all. Many internationally renowned musicians as well as film stars from Bangladesh and India performed in the festival.

Prime Minister’s Private Industry and Investment Adviser Salman F Rahman was the chief guest at the festival. Saidur Rahman Rintu, President of Barishal Chamber of Commerce and Industry delivered the welcome speech while State Minister for ICT Division Zunaid Ahmed Palak spoke as the special guest.

Celebrated film stars performed in the second part of the programme. Popular Tollywood actress Mimi Chakraborty performed with the ‘Joy Bangla’ and ‘De Tali’ songs. Besides Mimi, Bangladeshi film actors Ferdous Ahmed, Purnima, Nirab, Emon, Tama Mirza entertained the audience with their performances.

After that, the country’s popular band Nemesis, singers Luipa, Dola and Tasnim Anika performed. Folk Queen Momtaz Begum also sang at the event. 

Finally, the artistes who came with ‘Taposh and Friends’ enthralled the audience with their performances. The singers include Chishti Baul, Balam, Arefin Rumi, Oishee, Luipa, Parvez, Pratik Hasan, Dola, Anika, Dora, Reshmi, Puja, Shamim, Hasib, ABD, Pulak, Priyo, Sabbir and others. International reputed musicians joined them.
