Former national handball player Shajahan Hamid, popularly known as Boby Hamid, passed away on Wednesday morning due to a brain tumor at a city hospital at 10:00am.
He was 57 and left behind his wife, two daughters and plenty of well-wishers to mourn his death.
Boby also played football at the top level for Brothers Union and Wari Club before calling time in 1992 following injury.
Bangladesh Olympic Association expressed deep shock and sorrow at the death of Boby Hamid and prayed for eternal peace of the departed soul and conveyed deep sympathy to the bereaved family.
In separate condolence messages, Bangladesh Handball Federation and Bangladesh Chess Federation also expressed deep shock and sorrow at the death of Boby Hamid.
