Bypass road in Dinajpur demanded

DINAJPUR: The people of Phulbari upazila in the district have demanded of the government to construct a bypass road to avoid traffic jams and road accidents.

Talking to this correspondent, the residents said that due to narrow road and encroachments at the bazar the pedestrians had to walk on the main road instead of the footpath. Besides, illegal establishment also causes routine traffic snarls in the district town.

A human chain was formed at Phulbari upazila in the district to prevent road accidents, demanding bypass road and safe roads. The human chain was held under the banner of ‘Nirapad Sarak Chai’ at the local Nimtala area on Friday afternoon.

Nirapad Sarak Chai Phulbari unit president Khajanur Haidar Limon, general secretary Manik Mandal, leader of Fulbari Motor Transport Workers Union Montaz Ali Chowdhury, members of Phulbari unit of the organisation Hamidul Islam, Al-Amin bin Amzad and others spoke at the human chain.

At the end of the human chain, a memorandum was given to the Phulbari Upazila Nirbahi Officer.
