Tk 5,671cr for food sector

The government has earmarked Taka 5,671 crore for the food sector in the proposed budget of FY2022-23, reports BSS.

The proposed allocation revealed while Finance Minister AHM Mustafa Kamal placed the proposed national budget at the parliament on Thursday.

Under the allocation, Taka 4,335 crore has been proposed for operating of the food ministry and remaining Taka 1,336 crore for the development purpose.

The proposed budget outlay for the food sector is Taka 960 crore more compare to the actual budget earmarked in last year and Taka 26 crore less than the revised budget of 2021-22 fiscal.

Despite the crisis arising from the Covid -19 pandemic, we had been able to achieve food and nutrition security, thanks to the very timely directives from the Prime Minister,  according to the budget speech.
