Woman tourist dies after ‘consuming excessive liquor’ in Bandarban

BANDARBAN: A 22-year-old tourist named Zara Haque died while undergoing treatment at Bandarban Sadar Hospital.

Zara Haque, fell sick after ‘taking excessive liquor’ at a room in Green Peak Resort of Bandarban on Monday.

The woman was admitted to Sadar Hospital on Monday of breathing problems. She died while undergoing treatment there.

According to hospital sources, Zara Haque arrived in Bandarban from Dhaka on Monday with her friends Nihal, 23 and Pranta, 24.

Zara Haque with her friends had checked into Green Peak Resort in Bandarban. On the same day, three friends, including Zara Haque, drank foreign liquor brought from Dhaka. Excessive liquor increases Zara’s breathing difficulties. She was admitted to Sadar Hill View Hospital on Wednesday after his condition deteriorated, the doctor advised to take her to Bandarban Sadar Hospital. Zara was later admitted to Sadar Hospital where she succumbed.

Bandarban Civil Surgeon Dr Niharanjan Nandi said the patient was admitted to the hospital this afternoon. She was suffering from shortness of breath. She later died while undergoing treatment.

Bandarban Sadar Police Station OC (Investigation) Mirza Zahir Uddin told that a tourist named Zara Haque died while undergoing treatment at Bandarban Sadar Hospital. Two of his friends were detained for interrogation. Legal action is being taken in this case.
