An observation meeting on "Machh Gari", the first mobile application of fish transport in the country, was held at the conference room of the Ministry of Fisheries and Livestock on Tuesday.
Secretary of Ministry of Fisheries and Livestock Dr Mohammad Yamin Chowdhury presided over the meeting.
In his speech, Dr Mohammad Yamin Chowdhury appreciated the initiative and said that the addition of "Machh Gari" in the fisheries sector would play a significant role. This mobile application will make a ground-breaking contribution to fish farming, transportation and other fields.
The meeting was attended, among others, by Ministry of Fisheries and Livestock Additional Secretary SM Ferdous Alam, Joint Secretary Hafsa Begum, Director General (current charge) Department of Fisheries Kh Mahbubul Haque, Worldfish Chief of Party Dr Manjurul Karim and Deputy Chief of Party Dr Md Samsul Kabir.
About 25 district fisheries officers from different districts also joined the meeting online.
The meeting discussed the field-level activities of the "Machh Gari" project and various other aspects of the application. The sources familiar with the project said that 1,747 trips and 732 metric tons of fish have already been transported from the project area through the app.
