Major opposition Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) on Tuesday held talks with Ganosamhati Andolan as part of its ongoing dialogue with political parties to forge stronger unity for a greater movement to oust the Awami League government.
A BNP delegation, led by party Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir, was present at Ganosamhati Andolan’s Hatirpool central office in the capital.
Ganosamhati Andolan is a partner of Ganatantra Mancha, a coalition comprising seven political parties and organisations.
Ganosamhati Andolan’s Chief Coordinator Zonayed Saki, its Executive Coordinator Abul Hasan Rubel, political council member Taslima Akhter, party leaders Hasan Maruf Rumi, Bachchu Bhuiyan, Deepak Roy, Shyamoli Shil and Mizanur Rahman, among others, took part in the dialogue.
Emerging from the meeting, Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir told reporters that they have agreed to forge a simultaneous movement against the government.
He said they agreed that the next parliament election should be held under an election time non-party, neutral government and under a new election commission reconstituted by the neutral government.
