Chattogram: Customs officials recovered 28 gold bars from the luggage of a passenger at Chattogram Shah Amanat International Airport on Sunday.

The passenger was Shafi Alam. He arrived at the airport from Jeddah by a flight of Bangladesh Biman in the morning.

On information, customs officials searched the luggage of the passenger and found the gold bars kept tactfully inside the charger light and torch light.

Later, Shafi was arrested with the gold bars weighing around 3.300 kilogrammes, said Customs Deputy Commissioner (DC) Salauddin Rizvi.

The market price of the gold bars would be around Tk 2.5 crore. A case in this connection is under process, he said.
