Two Ctg cops ‘go missing’ in Netherlands

CHATTOGRAM: Two police constables of Chattogram Metropolitan Police (CMP) didn’treturn to the country after attending a training in the Netherlands.

The cops were identified as Constable Md Shah Alam and Constable Russel Chandra Dey.

Sources said CMP sent a proposal to the Police Headquarters in the middle of last year to form a dog squad.

Contractor firm ‘MessersRifa Enterprise’was engaged for supplying dog and training the manpower in this connection.  An eight-member delegation went to the Netherlands on May 9 to receive training on 'Management, Handling and Training of Dogs.’

The team led by Assistant Commissioner (AC) Mohammad Belayet Hossain consisted of one Sub Inspector (armed), one Nayek and five constables including Shah Alam and Russel.

Sources said Shah Alam and Russel completed the eight-day training. But, the duo left the hotelthe day before returning home.  Though the rest six cops returned home on Tuesday last, the duo remained traceless, they said.

Chattogram Metropolitan Police (CMP) Commissioner Saleh Mohammad Tanvir said a missing report was lodged with the Police Headquarters in this connection.

“Investigation has already been launched against them. The next course of action will be taken after getting report from the Police Headquarters and the concerned mission,” he added.
