Speakers at a programme in Mymensingh on Friday said a new horizon has opened in the country’s jewellery industry under the leadership of Bangladesh Jewellers Samity (BAJUS) President Sayem Sobhan Anvir.

The programme was organised at Hotel Hera in the city on the occasion of orientation of new members of BAJUS from Mymensingh district. Leaders of BAJUS central committee attended the event.

The speakers said the BAJUS president hopes to bring all the jewellery traders under the umbrella of BAJUS and unite everyone so that together they can take the business to a place of honour.

President of BAJUS Mymensingh district unit Alhaj Malik Md Hossain presided over the programme while former BAJUS President and Chairman of its Standing Committee on Law and Membership MA Wadud Khan addressed it as the chief guest.

BAJUS Assistant Secretary and Vice-Chairman of its Standing Committee on Law and Membership Masudur Rahman and BAJUS Executive Member and Member Secretary of its Standing Committee on Law and Membership Md Reponul Hasan were present as special guests.

General Secretary of BAJUS Mymensingh district chapter Chandan Kumar Ghosh gave the welcome speech while Vice-President of BAJUS Mymensingh unit MA Kabir also spoke.

At the beginning, mementoes of good wishes were handed over to the guests who joined the event from Dhaka. BAJUS Adviser and Bangladesh Pratidin Business Editor Ruhul Amin Rasel received a memento of good wishes on behalf of BAJUS President Sayem Sobhan Anvir.

Speaking on the occasion as the chief guest, MA Wadud Khan said the problems and crises facing the jewellery business will gradually be resolved. “Inconsistencies in our business will be removed.”

“Current BAJUS President Sayem Sobhan Anvir is an enlightened man. He likes work. He wants to turn the negative perception of the jewellery business into a positive one,” he said.

Describing gold as an asset of Bangladesh, Wadud Khan also said, “We’re proud to be involved in this business. Our current president has urged everyone to become members of BAJUS as soon as possible as it’ll be difficult for them to become members in the future.”

BAJUS will always stand by its members, he added.

In their speeches, Masudur Rahman, Md Reponul Hasan, Malik Md Hossain, Chandan Kumar Ghosh and MA Kabir also praised the initiatives of BAJUS President Sayem Sobhan Anvir and called the BAJUS members to strengthen his hands for a glorious future of the jewellery business.
