The Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) on Thursday directed the authorities concerned to close all the unregistered clinics, hospitals and diagnostic centres across the country within 72 hours.
The instruction was given after a meeting held at the DGHS conference room on Wednesday afternoon with Prof Dr Ahmedul Kabir, additional director general (admin) of the DGHS, in the chair.
Directors of hospitals, civil surgeons of districts and upazila health complex officials have been asked to enforce the instruction.
At the same time, they also have been asked to carry out action against illegal health service centres in coordination with local administration.
The meeting also decided to give a deadline to renew their licences. If the hospitals, clinics and diagnostic centres fail to renew their licences within the deadline, their operation will be suspended.
The meeting also decided that harsh actions, including revoking the licences, will be taken against the private hospitals and clinics if they allow other people to stay at the operation theatres for anesthesia and other activities during operation, other than registered physicians.
Besides, no clinic, private hospital and diagnostics center will be allowed to run their activities until they get a license. At the same time, the licensing procedures of the private hospitals, clinics, diagnostics centers applied, will have to be completed quickly,” the meeting minutes said.
