Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal (JCD) has claimed that at least 30 of its leaders and activists were hurt in the clashes with Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) in Central Shaheed Minar and TSC area on the campus of Dhaka University on Tuesday.

The injured leaders and activists were whisked off to Dhaka Medical College & Hospital. Some of them were critically injured, said eyewitnesses.

Central Joint General Secretary of JCD Rakibul Islam Rakib said, "We were parading to the campus peacefully from Shaheed Minar area. At that time, leaders and activists of Chhatra League attacked us with hockey sticks, rods, stumps and choppers without any provocation.

"At least 30 leaders and activists, including central leaders Rashed Iqbal Khan and Abu Afsan Mohammad Yahya, were fatally injured in the attack."

On the other hand, BCL denied the allegations of attacks.

General Secretary of BCL DU unit Saddam Hussain said, "Chhatra League did not make any attacks. Instead, Chhatra Dal carried out the attacks with weapons. When Chhatra Dal along with non-students tried to enter the campus, university students peacefully resisted them."
