The Bangladesh Cricket Board President Nazmul Hassan Papon feels that his country will surely be the first choice to replace Sri Lanka for hosting the upcoming edition of the Asia Cup if the islanders failed to organise it.
The Asia Cup, which will be played in T20 format this year, is scheduled to be held in Sri Lanka from August 27 till September 11 but the tournament seems to be in doubt nowadays considering the current political and financial stability of the South Asian country.
According to sources, there’re also some talks regarding holding the continental event in the UAE but it also seems difficult because of the heat in the Western Asian country.
The BCB boss also informed that the Asia Cup venue issue will be finalised at the end of this month when ICC Chairman Greg Barclay will travel to India to watch the IPL final.
