‘Wait for enjoying moonlit night thru Padma Bridge about to end’

Road Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader said Padma Bridge, the country’s biggest project, will be inaugurated next month.

He stated that the days are not far away for those who dream of travelling through the bridge on a moonlit night.

“On Sunday, we’ll send the Prime Minister a summary. She’ll set the date” he said.

Quader, also the Awami League general secretary, said this while addressing a discussion arranged by Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) to mark party President and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina’s homecoming day at the Teacher-Student Centre (TSC) auditorium on Dhaka University campus on Saturday.

“The World Bank (WB) had cancelled credit for the Padma Bridge project, citing false graft allegations. Sheikh Hasina then stated her determination that the Padma Bridge would be built entirely with the country’s own funds,” he said.

“Today, Sheikh Hasina’s dream has come true, as the bridge has been built with the county’s own funds. Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman had brought the country’s independence, and his daughter, Sheikh Hasina, has brought economic emancipation,” he added.
