4 killed in road crashes

At least four people were killed and five others injured in separate road accidents in three districts on Friday and Thursday.

 In Chandpur: two job-seekers met their tragic end and two others injured when they were going to Al Amin Academy School and College in Chandpur to participate in an assistant teacher recruitment test for government primary school on Friday.

The deceased were identified as Fatema Alam, 24, and Abdullah, 25, and injured are Yeasin, 65, and his daughter Amena, 25.

The accident took place when a pickup van and a CNG-run           auto-rickshaw collided head-on at Ghosher Hat Miar Bazar on the Chandpur-Cumilla road around 9:30 am, leaving Fatema Alam dead on the spot and three others hurt.

Among the injured, Abdullah died after being taken to Chandpur General Hospital. Chandpur Model Police Station Officer-in-Charge Harunur Rashid confirmed the incident.

In Chattogram: an assistant sub-inspector (ASI) of Police was killed in a road accident in front of the TSP complex under EPZ Police Station in Chattogram on Friday.

The deceased was identified as Benuram Nath, 40, from Fatikchhari upazila.

Police said he was hit by a covered van around 9:30 am.

The deceased was on duty at Eastern Refinery Limited under Chattogram Metropolitan Police (CMP) Dampara Police Lines.

EPZ police Officer-in-Charge (OC) Kabirul Islam said that in the morning we got the news of a dead body lying on the side of the road in front of the complex.

The body was recovered from the spot and sent to Chattogram Medical College Hospital for autopsy.

He was later identified as a policeman. He has serious head injuries.

Attempts are being made to identify the vehicle by collecting CCTV footage.  The body will be handed over to the family after autopsy.

In Barguna: A 40-year-old man was killed and three others injured as a three-wheeler carrying goods overturned at Pazrabhanga in Barguna Sadar upazila, police said on Friday, reports UNB.

Deceased, Selim Gharami of Madartali village, was travelling by the three-wheeler.

Ali Ahmed, officer-in-charge (OC) of Barguna Sadar Police Station, said that the incident occurred at around 9 pm on Thursday as the speeding three-wheeler hit a speed breaker and lost control.

It overturned into a roadside field killing Selim on the spot and injuring three others.

One injured has been sent to Barishal Sher-e-Bangla Medical College Hospital in critical condition, he said.
