Doctors of Bashundhara Eye Hospital and Research Institute (BEHRI) performed free cataract surgery on 28 poor patients at the hospital’s modern operation theatre on Thursday.
Dr Moutushi Islam and Dr Rubina Akhter took part in the operations at the hospital in Bashundhara Residential Area in the capital.
Of the patients, 16 were men and 12 were women. They had been suffering from severe cataract problems.
Bashundhara Eye Hospital and Research Institute, Vision Care Foundation, and Rotary Club of Baridhara Sunrise organised the free eye camp.
BEHRI Manager Mohammad Ahsan Habib said this initiative has been taken to provide eye treatment to poor cataract patients in the country.
"More than 1,000 patients have already received free surgery through this free eye camp across the country so far," he said.
BEHRI started providing free eye surgery treatment in April 2014 through modern medical equipment and investigations.
