Bangladesh Railway (BR) on Tuesday decided to operate a pair of ‘Mango Special Train’ on Dhaka-Rohanpur-Chapainawabganj-Rajshahi route.
The decision was taken in a meeting of Bangladesh Railway with director general Dhirendran Nath Mazumder in the chair at Rail Bhaban.
“We will sit with mango traders on May 20 to decide when the railway can start the special train service. We will start the service targeting the peak season of mango. We hope we can start it by 25-31 May,” said Asim Kumar Talukder, BR general manager (West).
BR operates a special mango train service every year to transport mango, lychee, and other vegetables at low cost from Rajshahi and Chapainawabganj to Dhaka.
