RCA set to get approval in EGM

A Bangladesh Cricket Board official said on Monday that they will hold an Emergency General Meeting on July 26 in order to approve the Regional Cricket Association.

The BCB President Nazmul Hassan Papon promised to start RCA to decentralize cricket after becoming the board president but failed to implement it due to different reasons.

“We’re set to hold an EGM on July 26 where we’ll talk about regional cricket. We will seek the approval from our respective board directors in this matter,” BCB Media Committee Chairman Tanvir Ahmed Titu told The Daily Sun.

“We will try to start the RCA in the light of our pilot project that we started in Chattogram and Sylhet. However, our structure of RCA is yet to finalize. Once it is done, we will place it before the board for approval,” he added.

RCA was supposed to be a major step to decentralize the country’s cricket at administrative level and grassroots to have a significant impact on the overall growth of the sport.

Eddie Barlow who served as Bangladesh’s coach back in 1999-2000 first introduced the concept to take cricket forward in the country.
