BGB troops deployed in Cumilla ahead of CCC polls

A platoon of Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) has been deployed in Cumilla, a month before the city corporation polls scheduled for June 15.

They will work with local law enforcement agencies to maintain security and ensure a peaceful polling environment during the elections.

Md. Shahedunnabi Chowdhury, returning officer of Cumilla City Corporation (CCC) and NID Wing Director (Operations), told reporters that BGB, along with an executive magistrate, has been patrolling in Cumilla since Sunday noon.

 "The candidates for the upcoming city polls should not start campaigning right away. We are verbally cautioning those who are attempting to campaign," the officer said.

An executive magistrate will be in charge of the BGB platoon.    In addition, three executive magistrates are working in the area from May 12.
