Alamgir, Runa Laila honoured with lifetime achievement award in Kolkata

Noted film actor Alamgir and renowned singer of the subcontinent Runa Laila have been honoured with the Lifetime Achievement Award at the 19th Tele Cine Awards in Kolkata, India. The award ceremony was held at Nazrul Mancha in Kolkata on Saturday.   

About the award, Alamgir said from Kolkata, “I’ve received several awards here before, including Uttam Kumar Award and others. I feel honoured to get the award. Thanks to the organisers who have honoured us with the ‘Lifetime Achievement Award.”

Runa Laila shared, “I think the Tele Cine Awards unites the artistes of two Bengals. Many artistes from both the Bengals have honoured with this award. Earlier, I’ve honoured with an award at the same stage. Legendary singer Sandhya Mukhopadhyay was present at that programme. This time I and Alamgir have been honoured with the same award. This is a very joyful and precious moment for us. Thanks to the organisers.”  

To attend the award ceremony, Alamgir and Runa reached Kolkata on Friday. Earlier, Bangladeshi actor Nayak Raz Razzak and Babita were honoured with ‘Lifetime Achievement Award’ .

Tele Cine Awards is an awards show for Bengali cinema and television serials organised by the Tele Cine Society, started in 2000. Since its inception, a number of Bangladeshi artistes, musicians, and directors have been honoured with the awards for their contribution in their respective fields.
