The Directorate of National Consumer Rights Protection (DNCRP) on Sunday conducted a drive at kitchen markets in the capital to monitor the situation of the soybean oil supply.

The DNCRP carried out the drive at Karwan Bazar Kitchen Market, Mohammadpur Krishi Market and Mirpur-1 Shah Ali Market.

During the drive, Shah Miron General Store at Karwan Bazar Kitchen Market was fined Tk 2,000 for selling bottled soybean oil at additional prices against MRP (maximum retail price).

Assistant Directors of the directorate Abdul Jabbar Mandal, Fahmina Akhter and Magfur Rahman conducted the raid. Jabbar Mandal said they made raids at the three kitchen markets to supervise the oil supply situation.  He said during the raid, they found Shah Miron General Store selling per litre bottled soybean oil at Tk 198 though it was bought before the hike in prices.

Though the MRP on the labels attached to one-litre bottles was Tk 160, the grocer was selling each bottle at higher prices, adding Tk 38 to the mentioned one. So, the proprietor of the shop was fined Tk 2,000, said Jabbar.
