BNP secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir has termed the recent price hike of soybean oil as an exposure of anti-people step of the government.
“Fixing the bottled soybean oil at Tk 198 per litre by hiking the price Tk 38 per litre, is exposure of anti-people step of the government,” he said in a written statement on Friday.
The BNP secretary general said disappearing of soybean oil from the market before the Eid-ul-Fitr and the sudden hike of the price of the edible oil has put people in sufferings.
The middle and low income people are paying extra money after disappearance of soybean oil from the market and increasing the price with the activities of the ruling party syndicate. People have been pushed into extreme harassment in this incident, he said.
Mirza Fakhrul alleged that the main target of increasing the price of the edible oil is to snatch away hundreds crore taka through controlling this essential goods by syndicate.
“The voter less government has no accountability to people. That’s why, it has put people in serious sufferings through pushing soybean oil price out of purchasing capacity of people. The government has increased the price for their own interest,” he added.
The BNP secretary general also demanded the government to withdraw its decision of price hike of the edible oil immediately.
