Members of Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) on Wednesday arrested two men, including the system engineer of Sohoz.com, allegedly for selling train tickets on the black market in the capital.
The arrestees are Rezaul Karim, 38, the ringleader and system engineer of Sohoz.com, and Amranul Alam Samrat, 28.
Rezaul was arrested at Kamalapur Railway Station’s server room. His information helped the elite force arrest Emran from the Airport Railway Station, said the officer.
Rezaul had been working on a train e-ticking service for the last six years. Before joining Sohoz.com, he worked for CNS.bd.
He used to sell 2,000-3,000 train tickets during Eid every year. He earned Tk 10-12 lakh by selling train tickets on the black market every year. He sold each ticket for an additional Tk1,000-1,500, said Al-Momen.
During Eid, many VIP people had a demand for tickets, which Rezaul supplied, he said.
Rezaul illegally booked and purchased e-tickets while working as a system engineer for the e-ticketing service of Bangladesh Railway.
The elite force is now investigating the crime to see if there were any others involved in the illegal business.
