Over 23,000 diarrhoea patients have been admitted to the icddr,b hospital in 20 days in the current month while the country’s diarrhoea situation has continued to improve for around a week.
The hospital sources said the daily number of diarrhoea patients admitted to icddr,b hospital has remained below 1,100 for last nine days in a row.
According to the icddr,b data, 555 diarrhoea patients were taken to the hospital from 12:00am to 3:00pm on Thursday while tt was 475 on Tuesday in the same time.
Some 803 diarrhoea patients were admitted to the icddr,b hospital on April 20; 934 on April 19; 1,039 on April 18; 988 on April 17; 1003 on April 16; 962 on April 15; 1058 on April 14; 1020 on April 13; and 1103 on April 12; 1154 on April 11; 1204 on April 10; 1296 on April 9; 1,375 on April 8; 1,382 on April 7; 1,370 on April 6; 1,379 on April 5; 1,383 on April 4; 1171 on April 3; 1274 on April 2; 1274 on April 1.
The Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) sources said the diarrhoea situation had deteriorated in different districts, especially in Dhaka, as patients flooded into many hospitals a week ago.
